This course has helped me understand the Language Other Than
English Standards (LOTE) standards a little better. In reading other teacher’s
discussions and suggestions for lesson plans I have also learned that there are
many ways of approaching a lesson. Sharing ideas and lesson plans has helped
spark my own creativity. Implementing the lesson plan, gave me the opportunity to see my ideas in action, because I was able to "test drive" the ideas I had on paper and got actually time and see how they would unfold with "real" students". I have learned that it’s okay to ask for help and get
ideas from our colleagues when I need them. I am excited to be so close to
finishing the program. Reflecting back, the knowledge I've gained in this
course has been invaluable because being knowledgeable and applying the
standards correctly is a vital part of being a successful teacher. I am excited
for the future. I am going to strive to be the best teacher I can be and be as
creative as I can be without losing sight of the standards.

Learning Styles results
Learning Styles Results |
|
I have a fairly balanced learning style. However my strongest learning styles are Active Learner and Visual learner. I scored a 7 for active learning and a 5 for visual learning. I think these results are accurate. I do tend to be a visual learner and I remember things better when I actually "do" them. Knowing this, I will keep in mind that not everyone is a visual learner and that I need to make sure I am also verbalizing directions clearly for students who are more sequential and global learners. |
Test Results
These are my personality test results.
E
Extraversion involves interacting with people, having broad interests, and tending to act first and then think.
N
iNtuition looks at potential and possibilities, and tends to be interested in what is not yet known.
F
Feeling involves using values, taking a personal, subjective view as a participant, valuing and appreciating.
P
Perception retains flexibility, inquiring, being spontaneous, keeping options open and waiting to see what develops.
ENFP
If your closest personality type is ENFP then you are someone who senses the hidden potential in people. You enjoy starting discussion or activities that challenge and stimulate others into having new insights about themselves, which they can then take and apply to their own personal growth. You are enthusiastic about new projects or causes that offer the potential for a beneficial impact on people, especially when it involves breaking new ground.
I think that these results definitely describe me. I am someone who enjoys being extroverted, I like socializing with others and leading conversations that might give someone a sense of their potential. I really like seeing my student's eyes light up when they are really getting something. I also enjoy new projects that have a beneficial impact on other people. Just the other day I was teaching students how to calculate interest rates on a car loan (a life skill), and it was exciting to see everyone interested in the topic. It was a class of juniors and seniors, so the subject matter really captured their interest since they are going to be graduating soon. I really enjoy motivating students for the future and its great to see them engaging in topics that 100 percent will have an impact on their lives.

Hola! My name is Paulina and I am working
towards a single subject credential to teach Spanish as a foreign language and masters degree in Education. I have been a substitute teacher for the past 5
years and have always been on the fence about investing my time and effort to
getting fully certified. However, the more I have the opportunity to work with
students and experience long-term assignments, the more I am convinced that I
am in the right profession. I earned my bachelor's degree in Spanish Literature
and Global Studies from UCSB. After graduating, I pursued a career in Spanish
television and worked in the local news industry for 5 years. I have
always been passionate about learning new languages and traveling, that is why
I chose to teach Spanish. Having worked as a Spanish news reporter, I feel that
I can bring in real-world experience into the classroom and teach the language
with passion. Come to think about it, I used to play "teacher" all the time with my brother and sister. I am excited to be so close to completing the program, because I
know it's going to be a great experience.
