Hola! My name is Paulina and I am working towards a single subject credential to teach Spanish as a foreign language and masters degree in Education. I have been a substitute teacher for the past 5 years and have always been on the fence about investing my time and effort to getting fully certified. However, the more I have the opportunity to work with students and experience long-term assignments, the more I am convinced that I am in the right profession. I earned my bachelor's degree in Spanish Literature and Global Studies from UCSB. After graduating, I pursued a career in Spanish television and worked in the local news industry for 5 years.  I have always been passionate about learning new languages and traveling, that is why I chose to teach Spanish. Having worked as a Spanish news reporter, I feel that I can bring in real-world experience into the classroom and teach the language with passion. Come to think about it, I used to play "teacher" all the time with my brother and sister. I am excited to be so close to completing the program, because I know it's going to be a great experience.
